I specialise in couple therapy. For more info on why it's important to choose the right counsellor who is a relationship specialist, see Couple Therapy link at the top of this page.
There's a short wait, usually a day or two, to be seen.
For a full list of issues I also work with as a therapist for individual clients, please see further down this page.

Couples
No long wait or complex assessment procedure.
I'm a fully qualified, registered full time professional with experience in couple psychotherapy.
I see couples, including LGBT and of all ages.
I work with people who are conflicting, or who are separating or divorcing but wish to improve future communications or with couples who just want to improve an already functional relationship.
Couple therapy has a coaching element, for example recommending exercises and methods for couples to use at home.
Affordable rates: £60. I am unable to give concessions but am very happy to provide therapy sessions fortnightly.
*What you need to know before committing.
If you are planning to commit to therapy, it is a collaboration on both sides which requires a few rules.
If you commit I expect you to show up or give me at least 48 hours notice. There are two reasons for this, one, someone else might have wanted that slot, and two, no therapist can remain in practice if people constantly cancel sessions because this is a business, it is how I earn my living, so if you do, you need to pay, on the day.
Reasons for not attending cannot include things like school holidays and childcare, work, or sporting fixtures on TV. Therapy is a serious commitment and part of our therapy is to learn how to prioritise. It's hard, but worthwhile, people often want to know how long their therapy will last, I'm afraid that's rarely going to be just a few weeks.
About Me
I have been a counsellor for 29 years. My practice is within travelling distance of Brighton, Moulsecoomb, Lewes, Hove, Portslade by Sea, Southwick, Shoreham by Sea, Rottingdean, Peacehaven, and Worthing.
You are welcome to call me to discuss your needs and issues.
Before calling, it's important to decide whether you really are available to commit to a consistent period of therapy.
My main approach is a blend of counselling styles, eg Gestalt, NLP, CBT, Solution Focused, Transactional Analysis, Transpersonal and Existential. I sometimes use a holistic, body oriented approach. While I am qualified as a counsellor, my therapy is not just a 'talking cure' I have excellent techniques for getting to the root of issues. It's also important to choose a therapist with experience for some issues.
Preparing to embark on therapy
Therapy is a commitment. In the first session, you can decide whether you want to work with me, and I will assess whether I can work with you. For therapy to be really effective, it's important to attend regularly.
I need to prepare a good space to work in, and prepare myself for the session so I expect clients to show up.
Sessions cancelled at less than 48 hours notice will be charged, so please do not make an appointment unless you are sure you can turn up. I am always open to rescheduling.

Therapy
Therapy on average takes between six weeks and six months depending on the circumstances. Some people find a year or more is necessary.
Therapy progresses in four ways:
1 Identify, explore
2 Achieve insight
3 Support to accept, cope
4 Support to plan lasting, realistic healing
